Iscani
The second phase to the Iscani Subdivision to the City of Anadarko is a 40-unit new construction development managed by the Wichita Housing Authority of the Wichita & Affiliated Tribes, a federally designated American Indian tribe. The project created 24 two-bedroom units and 16 three-bedroom units within 20 duplex buildings. Travois, Inc., a housing and economic development consulting firm for American Indian organizations, assisted with the project. All of the 40 units were built with the goal of homeownership in mind after the 15-year compliance period. The homes average 1,400 square feet, have two-car garages, sodded yards, Energy Star appliances, Low-E window glass, and washer and dryer rooms with hook-ups. A swimming pool with a dressing room and concession area was also included in the project. In addition to offering safe, decent, and affordable housing, this project also provides a variety of services through the Housing Authority and the Social Services Department. Each of these services is provided free of charge: a Promoting Safety and Drug Awareness Program, homebuyer education classes, a resident organization program, credit counseling, juvenile services for tribal youth, and day care. The main source of funding for this project came from the purchase of Low Income Housing Tax Credits by the investor, Raymond James Tax Credit Funds, NA. The Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka provided additional funding through an Affordable Housing Program grant, and the Wichita Housing Authority provided the remaining funds as general partner capital.
