Pantages ApartmentsThis
49-unit rental development was built around—and includes—the Pantages
house, which was designated as a historic landmark by the Seattle
Landmarks Board in 2004. The developer, Capitol Hill Housing, also
acquired and demolished 2 dilapidated buildings adjacent to the house
to make way for new construction and
preserved a third structure that completes this
infill development. The apartments range in size from studios to 3-bedroom units and are affordable to households at 30 percent of
AMI (21 units) and 50 percent of AMI (27 units). Eleven units are reserved for formerly homeless families and receive
project-based Section 8 assistance; ten apartments are set aside for persons living with HIV/AIDS. The project received a $1.5 million award from the State
Housing Trust Fund; additional financing came through 9 percent
low-income housing tax credit equity, funds from the Seattle Housing Levy and philanthropic contributions, among other sources.
