The Rick Weiss New Hope Courtyard Apartments

The Rick Weiss New Hope Courtyard Apartments is an independent living facility in Santa Monica, California, for households with a member who is HIV-positive. It is located in a residential/visitor-serving area, adjacent to the Santa Monica Pier and beaches. Within a two block radius are many mid-rise hotels. The 7-story Rand headquarters building is adjacent to the east. The abutting streets are heavily used for pedestrian and vehicular access to the beach and pier.

The complex is stepped uphill in two and three story sections to match the residential buildings in the area. The design is in a courtyard format with the west end open to maximize views and breezes. There are three courtyard levels, providing residents with a variety of open-air common spaces. Parking is under the building.
