The Village of Woodbridge Manor
Completed in 2005, The Village of Woodbridge Manor is located within the city of Detroit on the 47-acre Woodbridge development at the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and John Lodge Expressway. This Village represents a unique collaboration of the efforts and resources of the Detroit Housing Commission, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Michigan State Housing Development Authority, Sun America Affordable Housing Partners, and Presbyterian Villages of Michigan. It's conveniently located to shopping, healthcare facilities, restaurants, recreation, entertainment, and other services. The Village of Woodbridge Manor is a three-story building consisting of 98 one-bedroom apartments. The apartments have wall-to-wall carpeting, emergency call system, individually controlled heating and cooling, fully equipped kitchens with refrigerator/freezer and front panel controls on the stove, and hand-held shower-heads. The development includes specially designed apartments for mobility-impaired residents. The Village offers a kitchen-equipped community/dining room, a clinic for visiting physicians, nurses or podiatrists, a fitness center, computer room, mini-theater, library, and beauty/barber shop. Fifteen of the apartments are designated for residents requiring supportive services. These residents are frail seniors having documented long-term care needs requiring supportive assistance to maintain their ability to live "independently" including bathing/personal hygiene, dressing, cooking/eating, etc. Residents 62 years of age or older and meeting the specified income limits pay 30% of adjusted gross annual income in rent.
