Falcon Crest

Falcon Crest is a community of 93 homes sold exclusively to low and moderate income first-time homebuyers. All homes in the community feature Spanish revival architecture, incorporate universal design measures that promote livability and allow homeowners to age in place, and outperform California's already demanding energy efficiency standards by more than 15% allowing the homes to be Energy Star certified. Additionally, most homes feature architecturally integrated solar panels which generate approximately half of a typical family’s electricity needs, and the entire community features xeriscape landscaping which creates beautiful, drought tolerant outdoor spaces that require minimal water use.

Developed and built by Community Dynamics in a public-private partnership with the Palm Desert Redevelopment Agency, the sales program offered up to $80,000 in "silent second" homebuyer down payment assistance through a combination of state and local government financing programs. Through radio and newspaper advertising and grassroots community outreach, the sales team generated a waiting list of more than 200 qualified buyers and all homes sold in the first month offered. Falcon Crest was awarded the HUD Secretary's Gold Award for Excellence in Affordable Housing in 2007.
